The way these guys write their logo made me think for a few glorious seconds that the mighty Frogs were back with something new, and so disappointment was inevitable upon realising that it is in fact the efforts of The 7 Frogs of Athens, Greece, with a beautifully-presented, hand-numbered 7” with three songs of heartfelt mid-paced indie pop with twinkly guitars and bright, gentle melodies.

To me it’s sounding somewhere between The Smiths, Teenage Fanclub and dEUS - really simple, warm, melodic indie pop with a bit of tasteful violin now and again, emotional but not morose, and with the occasional summery little rock-out to make sure you don’t get too sleepy.

The B side is taken up by ‘Rechaud’, with sweeping strings and trebly guitar jangle and earnest vocals for a bit of simple heartbreak-pop which recalls the Field Mice and the Go Betweens. They sound really British and you can’t even really make out a Greek accent in the vocals. They’re not reinventing the wheel here but these are all nice songs.
