This one here is one of those little 3” CD postcard jobbies from Lachrylic on micro-label Courier Sound, with four tracks of “synthy, spacey electronics inspired by the sun”, as the press release quite rightly claims. First there’s the buzzy slow-throb of ‘Ellipse’, ornamented with detached metallic dinks as it breathes out harsh but delicate electro-scree drones. Then ‘Sundrone’ introduces a fast hypnotic modular pulse and (very) minimal beats over some more soothing and melodic drones, developing to a sparse lopsided groove full of grainy layered drones at the end.

‘Eclipse’ has a glassy high-pitched drone over sparse dub beats and subby bass swells which morph into a flat, buzzy mid-bass drone which cuts off abruptly to reveal a shimmering high pitched celestial dronechord over which some melodic swells and tinkles melt into warm modular ambience in delightful closer ‘Sundrown’. Despite the harsh, buzzy nature of some of the tones it’s an incredibly relaxing, concordant and enjoyable trip, and seems fully-formed despite its ambient nature and the brevity of the format.
