This new LP on Pan (in their trademark fancy packaging) sees former Wolf Eye Aaron Dilloway collaborating with fellow experimentalist Jason Lescalleet for a somewhat unsettling collaboration on synths and tape loops. It starts out very synth-heavy with a bit of an Blade Runner-esque ‘80s soundtracky feel before descending into bassy throbs and barely-there drones which deteriorate into hiss and glitchy high-pitched flutter towards the end which builds to an uncomfortable intensity towards the end of the side.

Flip it and there’s some steam-engine chugs and ominous discordant synth chords for another round of tense, doomy soundtracky rumblings. It’s a hiss’n’creak spookscape of the finest quality, driving the listener into open space where the robot armies of the future can pick them out one by one. The threat seems to subside over the course of the side, but then right towards the end all hell breaks loose and laser-gun synths ricochet all over the fucking shop and you’ll feel lucky that you got to the end of the record alive. Two pieces of enveloping, creeping dark synth’n’tape ambience with alarming endings.
