In The Kingdom Of Dub by Scientist

Absolutely classic dub plate from Scientist. Originally released in 1981 the album is an innovative slice of music history with an array of guests including the legendary Sly & Robbie. If you are going to buy one dub album then this would be top of the list. Massive basslines, fractured organs, effects galore and beautifully stoned textures add up to a stellar example of the genre.

It seems like ages and ages since I added Scientist's 'In The Kingdom Of Dub' and 'The Best Dub Album In The World' to the site. Now finally they have arrived and it was a most welcome sight to behold as I clocked them in my review pile. For seasoned dub freaks this man needs no introduction. Remastered for vinyl for the first time by the man himself they sound bloody great and all. Recorded at Channel One and mixed at King Tubby’s this really is a no-brainer to bag a pair of classics while they are still around.

A stellar line up of musicians play on both, highlights being  Sly & Robbie and drums and bass, Ranchie McLean and Noel Sewell play guitars, Ansell Collins on organ and “Skully” on percussion. Robbie Shakespear and Flabba bust out some superior basslines, one particular favourite being ‘305 Spanish Town Road Dub’. A double dose of cracking dub reissues if ever there was one.
