Tooting’s Dignan Porch are back with a second album of their dreamy indie-pop for Captured Tracks, offering their consistently palatable mix of indie, dreampop, lo-fi, garage and noise-pop, with more than a touch of Real Estatey dreamy radio rock to its gentle summer vibes. It’s all very mid-paced, very tasteful, but with the occasional touch of gnarly overdriven guitar keeping it from becoming plodding or dull.
There’s loads of melodic hooks I feel like I’ve heard before, despite never having heard the album, and the simple, slow-moving lead parts are totally intoxicating in places and remind me a little of Wheat’s first couple of albums, while the casual boy/girl vocals seem to have a constantly wistful air to them which is especially effective on the drifting nostalgia of closer ‘You Win, You Win’. Gently affecting, misty-eyed slacker indie goodness.
