Although never exactly lavishly packaged for your hard earned £7.39, Nomadic Kids Republic do a neat job of bringing an ever expanding set of short form (rarely if ever more than four songs long) to the ears of discerning noise/drone/electro acoustic sound pollution fans everywhere. And like the label predecessor Home Normal (see insanely low priced offers on our wonderful website) each CD has a uniform look and feel.

The latest is by Pillowdiver, who have had releases out on Under The Spire etc and is basically four lumps of slow moving drone. Imagine a huge stricken whale being slowly transported across huge swathes of Siberian frozen wasteland and you are somewhere close. The tracks are pretty soothing in the extreme but track three turns into a major fuzz fest and perfectly replicates the sound when I’ve wandered upstairs whilst playing some Steely Dan record or other and the needle has gone into the middle of the album and created a horrible low end thrum. So to sum up, big churning monolithic drone. That good enough for ya?
