The Public Information label is proving to be very reliable and the latest in its canon is no exception. It’s pretty remarkable to think that this is the US west coast artist’s debut release. I guess essentially it’s a techno record but there is something strikingly original about it that I can’t quite put my finger on.

It has equal smatterings of spaced out bliss as it does warped dancefloor machinations. Really digging the darkside house of the third tune with its pitched-down vocals and a melody that sounds like a shattered horn. Actually there’s really quite a lot to take in here like the Black Dog-esque tribal clanking dubbed out tune that recalls a track from their classic ‘Spanners’ album or even Muslimgauze.

Some more slightly uptempo itchy techno kicks off the flipside which sounds very current and can imagine being dropped at Berghain. One tune reminds me of Four Tet with the lovely tinkling percussion and marimba sort of sounds. A solid album I reckon well worth your interest.
