8/10 Mike Staff review, 19 July 2012

Ooh, a new split from the good people at Keep It Yours. I was well impressed with the Babies/His Clancyness one they dropped a few months ago so I’m all ears here. On side Honeyslide there’s some nice kind of ethereal indiegaze business with nonchalant vocals and good use of powerful guitar fuzz with a thin little guitar melody buried under it towards the end. Most uplifting.

Flip it and side YRRS has a peppier, full-throated ‘90s style indie rock number with a bit of a ‘60s surf thing going on with the guitars. The jangly ‘60s-influenced big pop sound paired with the garagey buzzsaw tones and exuberant delivery are reminding me a little bit of a more obnoxious Two Wounded Birds. Both excellent cuts; dreamy indiepop on the A, raucous ‘60s-influenced power-pop on the B.
