Despite being a very rich, talented and successful man Jason Pierce opens this half baked effort with the words “sometimes I wish that I was dead”. No intro, no nothing. That self-pitying whinny is the most interesting thing about this tune which is ill produced, musically completely reliant on second hand Stones-isms and seemingly sung by a man with snivelling cold. I actually quite enjoyed parts of their latest album-length opus but I can’t quite figure out why the suits would choose this as a single. Nevertheless the world should pretty much carry on turning as is so I shouldn’t get too worked up.
