This is a pretty buzzing twelve. With remixes under his belt for Radiohead and Jimmy Edgar, this latest on Martyn’s label gallops towards my tired ears in the guise of a fizzy post-dubstep style techno romp called ‘Ready’. It has a submerged ghostly vocal sample, a gurgling ascending hook and pace aplenty but rather than a straight 4/4 kick he layers his percussive magic really well. I can imagine this getting some dancefloors shifting due to its sheer velocity, the metallic rimshots and hi-hats leading the way for an exuberant ride.

Over t’other side we get the delicious Prism which harks back to classic ambient techno moods from the first era, but keeps its eye firmly on the floor with a beautiful deep clap, sensual rhythms and subtle anguishing keys. It builds beautifully too, forever evolving, complete with a dreamy female vocal hook that hits halfway through and massages the nape of your neck. By far my fave side of the two, this is the kind of gear I heard Orb’s Alex Patterson DJing with recently, the phrase future past was never so apt, this will appeal to all the generations of loved-up 4am kids, a stunner!
