Individuation, the second full-length by Latitudes, is one of those records that is ideal for looking out at the dreariness of a rainy morning. Throughout, it blends different styles through each track, but overall it's heavy yet beautifully melodic. Even the vocals adds a layer of beauty to the mix, especially on "Imitation Ruin" where Adam Symonds' falsetto is almost on par with Thom Yorke. Tracks like "Vortice Of Malady" and "Metabolic Pathways" is not only moody, but is also pure and tear-inducing at times. Individuation pretty much carries the elements of what makes post-metal so special: It has the power and conviction of Isis (the band) and the haunting chasm of The Matador, but Latitudes are innovative enough to make the elements sound as original and full of growth than anyone else.
