Twin Shadow is the project of musician and actor George Lewis Jr. who somehow managed to find his way onto 4AD in 2013 for his second album Confess. It is inspired by a motorcycle accident which didn't stop him from riding the thing again and as he boasts in his press release hitting 100 mph the darn fool. Anyway this is one of his more interesting (or elitist as he puts it) records with nods to the Smiths and Human League.

I was initially very disappointed with the album. The songs are enjoyable, but are not addictive. Strangely, the second half of the album is stronger than the first half. There are only two songs in my opinion that are on the level of Forget. "When the Movie's Over" is a sublime track, great melodic synth riff, with a soaring, melodramatic (in the best sense) chorus. And "Patiently Waiting" has a pounding beat and an insistent chorus that implants itself in your brain. Those two songs are fantastic, the rest pales in comparison.
