Oh wow, here’s a single from Jazzman subsidiary Jukebox Jam, bringing back two tracks of swingin’ boogie from Jewel King, originally released on 78 way back in I-don’t-know-when-because-the-press-release-won’t-tell-me. This kind of thing really isn’t my area of expertise so I don’t want to fob you off with comparisons to artists I’ve barely listened to but it sounds pretty good to me for something that’s been taken from a 78, and Jewel’s voice is rich and full over a bouncy, restrained brass backing and warm walking basslines. It makes you want to twist, shout and engage in other such frivolity, which really shouldn’t be allowed. I’m sure the vicar will have something to say about this.
