8/10 Brian Staff review, 15 June 2012
These things eh, these bloody records, they never stop arriving. Just one week would be nice where we could put our feet up and sigh with relief as the trucks and the (mostly) men who drive them cease to burst through our doors brandishing endless boxes and boxes of vinyl bastards and CD twats. This is a particularly nice colour of record however so i’ve opted to be kind to it. Kim says it’s duck egg blue and i’m sure my mum had a weird pendant this colour when I was little. Maybe she was a satanist and that’s the colour they wear? Bet my mum’s pendant didn’t play slamming minimal warehouse techno though. DID IT? Oh no, this is a clever perfectly circular 12” satanic disc-pendant that you can plug your headphones into and stroll aggressively down the Euro-stracht like that mental techno viking I saw on YouTube once.
Don’t ask me to start dissecting the mixes on here, everyone knows this label releases nothing but the deepest, purest 4/4 head candy. Both the esteemed legend Substance and Scuba under his techno alias skillfully turn in the remix goods here with nice wooshing ‘n’ panning fauna and plenty of thudding atmospheric flora, both adding subtle twists to the epic original. If you dig David Sumner, like most clubbers of my ilk do, then what the fuck is you waiting for tekno-blud? This is the 20th installment in the highly tasteful Echocord Colour series which has seen some impressive and “happening” variations on the range we all know and love.....
