6/10 Penrith Steve Customer review, 20th October 2014

After “Going Blank Again”, Oxford’s Ride step a little further away from their shoegazing roots in favour of watered-down psychedelia and make a mainstream indie album. It seems that they have been listening to a wider range of influences to, not least The Creation, “How Does It Feel To Feel” is covered here. They were presumably introduced to their music by label boss Alan McGee. “Birdman” was the lead single and is a dynamic 6 and a half minutes of quiet psychedelic melody and noisier riffage. Songs like “1000 Miles”, “Magical Spring” and “Crown Of Creation” demonstrate the attempt for the mainstream indie sound. Album closer “I Don’t Know Where It Comes From” has a joke attempt at the “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” choir at the start but otherwise is quite a nice song.
