Well I met Lieven once and he seemed like an extremely nice chap with a better understanding of the true gentlemanly nature of sporting a cool 'tache than me. Here is a cassette on the home of experimental electronic music for this week, NNA. This ain't sounding like the new age fest I was anticipating. It begins with a pitched down murky choral vocal sample and creepy suspense chimes and chords and the craw of crows. It's well weird, man.
This sounds like fucked-up lo-fi soundtrack experimentation to me. Probably quite a step away from his regular ear-caressing material in nature, this is giving me the heebeejeebies, like I've entered a slimy haunted house wired up by some mad NWW obsessed clown who owns it and resides in the attic rocking on a chair slapping his erection with his big oversized yellow shoes whilst gurning deranged-like at the snail-encrusted wall. Fans of the Anworth Kirk stuff may like this disorientating sinister sound-scapery, it also sounds reminiscent of the ambient music from Jam recorded on your sisters tape player but seriously, more eerie because this is the sound of a mischievous man from Belgium. Lock up your daughters…
