8/10 Andrew Customer review, 6th August 2014

There is a superb , line up of guests on this LP, Erick Sermon, Jose James, Phife Dawg, MF Doom for example should need no introduction. Guilty Simpson, Phil Da Agony, Frank Nitt, Roc Marciano as well as many others bring their street smarts to the table. And Oh No? He gets to play with the tapes from Rudy Ray Moores Dolomite projects.

What you are getting is blaxploitation loops, heavy beats and funky riffs being ridden by some of the talented MC's orbitting the Stones Throw universe and beyond. Tracks like The Guns, Real Serious for example are posse type cuts, different MC's taking turns to show their mettle over Oh No's beats and DJ Romes cuts. The album could perhaps benefit from a little more variety and the sheer quantity of guests - have I mentioned MED, Evidence & Alchemist yet? - can feel like you are being rapped into submission, however this is a lot better than a lot of the rap & hip hop being put out there by many.

Oh No is obviously a gifted producer, not overawed by the long shadow cast by his brother Madlib. You get 19 tracks of consistent material here the hit rate is high, you get a typically off kilter Doom track '3 Dollars' so whats not to like. Quakers fans would do well to check this too.
