Blimey it’s a new Bjork-type lass. Never seen one o’ them before. Ho-ha she’s got it all down-pat has this Ryat. Get the first track and it’s glacial dream-pop and David Arnold strings firing into the cynical glance of your mush and then, suddenly, you gotta embrace the warm, classy twinkling hyper space that you most innocently start enjoying, in a somewhat some-what removed fashion! Ha, now yr getting sucked-in by the sensual tongue curls and angelic but throaty cooing, leaving you clutching a future coffee table electronic masterpiece in your supposedly hardcore, sneering brain-piece. I mean, Stick around here and you’ve the privilege of hearing someone having the gall to do a commercial, yet often left-field chamber-pop album that has all the appeal of everything from Grimes to Lamb and Fly-Lo whose label this has landed on. There’s plenty of fresh post-rock, stunning sample-kneading and reflective classical sound-scapery to call this a genuinely lovely and considered work. The reverence with which she approaches both her heart-on-sleeve influences with a progressive and dynamic understanding of modern music complexities is what strikes me here. Familiarity in fresh clothes, nothing hackneyed, just sensual, slinky future-pop with that little something……
