- Sand In The Line by Heidi Harris
9/10 Brian Staff review, 18 May 2012
Another Female Brooklyn resident and prodigy here, the lovely Heidi Harris. Her last UK-released collection was only a few weeks ago and now Reverb Worship unleash a second long playing instalment of her little-known work from last year, previously only seen online as far as I'm aware.
This one has quite a Gothic woodlands folk feel from the opening couple of tracks then it becomes more twinkly, sensual and fragile, the playing minimal, playful and reflective. Her voice is tentative, pure soulful expression that recalls both Lauras Gibson or Veirs and even Julia Holter at times. The largely acoustic music is embellished with all manner of intimate flourishes like chimes, maracas or xylophone. 'Sand in the Line' is a sweet gathering of free, lovingly spun, meandering dreamy folk that sparkles with effortless charm and wide-eyed possibilities. Truly lovely gear. The last one sold out double-quick so don't dawdle, folks.
