8/10 Mike Staff review, 15 May 2012
This is another of those CDs with slowly swelling passages of ambience, ranging from nearly-nothingness to more rousing and immersive passages. In the quiet parts if you close your eyes and exercise your imagination it's almost like you're not listening to anything at all. Fans of Stars of the Lid and Tim Hecker and people like that will be into this. The textures come from guitar and electronics and have quite a shimmering, celestial feel to them. It sounds like there's violins involved but I don't think there actually are.
When it gets going there's quite a cleansing, peaceful feel with the subtle, shifting chords drifting around in angelic shapes. I just caught myself softly humming along, which tends to be a good sign that the drones have sucked me in. Terrible habit, though. I'm getting really peaceful, spiritual, head-cleaning good vibes off this.
