I almost shit myself when I saw this was out. I've been enjoying Matthew Bower and Samantha Davies collaborations on Skullflowers 'Malediction'' and as Voltigeurs so anything bearing their name on it gets me interested. Then I discover that they've introduced Justin Broadrick into the fold which makes for a seriously ferocious three-piece. Broadrick plays guitar, bass and I guess drum machine, Davies plays guitar and also bass and then Bower simply utilises his weapon of choice; the guitar sounding as caustic as ever. Together they create huge walls of black-metal type sound. Broadrick introduces a little more rhythm and structure to the procedings, making for a more overtly metal than total noise sound but it really works. The rhythms remain simple skeletons upon where the real flesh of the sound resides. Four tracks in all,so I guess it's kind of a mini-album? Who cares? Get it cranked up to eleven and wait for the epic twelve minute closer 'The Exit Door Leads In' with it's searing guitar spitting flames from hell. Now that that is how it should be done!!!
