France are a new experimental three-piece from - you guessed it - France. This tape is a document of their debut performance at 2011's Kraak Fest, considered by many who attended to be 'a highlight in the history of the festival'. With a simple line-up of bass, drums and hurdy gurdy (?) and a obvious love of early Faust, more specifically their early collaborations with Tony Conrad, France indulge themselves in an all-out assault of repetitive pulsing rhythms and dope fucking drones. The music documented here is intense and transcendental and will no doubt have whipped the attending crowd into a mega frenzy. Either that or induced a deep trance-like state that would have been tough to shake off once the party was over. Either way it's an awesomely impressive display of righteous energy for a trio that features hurdy-gurdy. A must have item.
