8/10 Clinton Staff review, 06 July 2012

David Kilgour was one of the people in The Clean who were an excellent band from New Zealand who, in a nice twist, have gained some much deserved props from younger bands influenced by their clinical taut garage sound. This album isn’t going to re-invent the wheel. It’s a pleasant strum through the back gardens of guitar pop with plenty of musical nods to the Velvet Underground (and therefore by osmosis The Feelies), no frills but there’s some lovely moments.

‘You Forget’ and ‘Shivering’ in particular breeze along seemingly without a care for any music produced in the last 30 years but just like that last Feelies album no trees have been uprooted in the process yet still it’s a delightful glide through understated twangy guitar pop that sinks its way slowly and subtly into your skull.
