This is a dream record for me. When I found out about this I shat myself senseless with excitement. This is a French Record Store Day release split between two of my favourite artists, Manyfingers (Chris Cole) and Matt Elliott. The lead track from Manyfingers sees him adopting a slightly different approach to use looping shenanigans in favour of a more Gaelic-sounding pop extravaganza featuring Liz Sharkey and Chris Adams (Hood!). It's a beautifully haunting tune which starts off all delicate and fragile and before you know it Mr Adams butches the tune up, beats come in and the whole thing just builds. Put simply it's a beautiful piece of music. Oh, and if you hunt about online for the video you'll essentially just see lots of smoke and not much else. Hey I like to smoke just as much as anyone but should we be promoting this? Just joking...of course we should.  There's another track by Manyfingers but I thought I'd flip the record over as I'm running out of time here! The flip sees Matt Elliott opening with a cover of La Disputa by Yann Tiersen (from the Amelie soudtrack) done all Spanish finger picky style. The music really lends itself to that style and it works brilliantly. 'Get Wrecked' is a suitably sombre sounding Eastern European brooding number with plucked guitar which builds into a feedbacky caterwaul of noise laced with piano soaked in cheap spirits and misery. Delightful. A wonderful record!
