9/10 Mike Staff review, 18 May 2012

The wildly prolific White Fence are back with a new 7”, since a double album of their own and a collab LP with Ty Segall just wasn't enough for one month. Anyway, on the first side of this single they're rocking a couple of tracks of tinny '60s-style psych-garage-pop type stuff. The first song is kind of Syd Barrett-meets-Kinksy and the second one is a bit more out there and wibbly.

On the flip there's a longer song that's also got a lo-fi '60s sound to it. That's what they do, innit. It's got early Beatles-style harmonies tied to scratchy Sic Alpsy tones. You can imagine girls with polka dot bows in their hair doing the twist to it. This band is well charming, I've not heard anything by them I've disliked yet.
