- Back & Forth by Inigo Ugarteburu

Inigo is a Spanish dude who now lives in London. He's best known as a member of Wire-approved post rock group Café Teatro, though this is my first meeting with his music (hello Inigo's music). On the album he writes the songs and plays guitar, banjo, ukulele, harmonium, percussion and sings. Busy lad! The music has a very downbeat feel but when the brass section kicks in it gives it a certain energy and oomph. It totally takes it up a notch. The acoustic guitar is centrepiece throughout and as the album was mixed by John Hannon who records James Blackshaw you start to get a feel of the quality delicate folk pop on offer here. All the instruments are masterfully played and arranged creating a uniquely warm and sincere sounding record. It's very cinematic and moving sounding and if you're a fan of the aforementioned Blackshaw, Matt Elliott or Yann Tiersen then you'll love this cos it screams goodness from start to end. Other people are banging on about this (radio people on the radio) and I can totally hear why. A thoroughly delightful record from start to finish.
