This is reminding me of Jack White, Dirty Beaches and Colin Stetson all at the same time. How's that for an unhelpful description? Basically we've got Arnold De Boer playing super-minimal fingerpicked guitar and Xavier Charles clarinetting all over the top of it very tastefully. The A side's got 'Bourgeois Blues' - “based on versions by Leadbelly and The Fall” according to the sleeve - which has hypnotic guitar picking and soft droney clarinet over disaffected vocals for a skeletal dirge-like experience. On the flipside there's two shorter songs, the most interesting of which is 'Insecurity Expert' which has an almost Afro feel to its minimal repetitive polyrhythmic weirdness. Wonky, awkward, casually delivered minimal pop, basically.
