Oh yeah, Gallon Drunk are back with a new album of their hard rocking Nick Cave-meets-Mule man rock. These guys can always be relied on to make a tasty racket with their raucous rock'n'roll stylings and wounded-animal demented urgency. Great scything trebly guitar tones, occasional splatters of Psychedelic Furs-meets-'Funhouse'-style sax, heavy doses of Rocket From The Crypt/New Bomb Turks swagger, sometimes heading into slow and snotty Murder City Devils territory; when they take things down a notch for 'Stuck In My Head' it totally reminds me of the Breeders...but it's important to remember that these are more contemporaries than influences ('cept the Furs o' course) since these guys have been going since 1988. To the people of 1988, that's like if they'd been going since 1964! That's fucking ages! If they sound like a '90s band, that's because they are one. Anyway, they dole out eight excellent tracks of their distinctive American-sounding hard blues on this album, it's well recorded and if you like the band already then this won't disappoint you, and if you've not heard them yet, how come? Get on that.
