Aw yeah, always good to get a bit of garage punk in your reviews pile to blow away the cobwebs. This week it's the turn of boy-girl duo Cyclops. These funsters knock out a hyperactive drums/guitar/dual vocal attack of snotty fast-paced punk which reminds me a little of The Cramps at their most wired and manic, but with a Tyvek-style unhinged snottiness to the delivery so everything often sounds like it's just on the verge of falling apart.as they rant, shout, splutter and gurgle their way through the three silly and obnoxious songs on this disc. There's a really slicing trebly guitar tone that reminds me a bit of Thee Cormans too. The first side's got two fast and obnoxious garage pop numbers that are pretty blazing but it's the long track 'Goblins I' that's really grabbing my attention with its long breakdown of psychedelic scree and chatter that's truly deranged and satisfyingly frantic and brings to mind the art-noise mess of Puffy Areolas. Basically if you dig garage punk I expect you'll really like this. I certainly do.
