Ah, more sweet goodness. Not heard London producer Jack Dixon before but the combination of the blazing sunshine and the opening track on this 12” on R&S subsidiary Apollo are putting me in the right place. There's definitely hints of Burial in the intricate drum programming and heavily processed vocal shades that drift through the track. A totally soulful affair with that late night stoned alone vibe still intact. Lovely tune.
And it continues from there with three fantastic tunes in keeping with the new breed of producers whilst dropping a knowing nod to past masters like Hawtin and the like. 'Black Pain' in particular is on a strictly old school tip with the emotional aspects that made deep house and techno soooo fine ramped up to full...and you gotta love those beats. Beautiful stuff well worth investigating.
