9/10 Mike Staff review, 11 April 2012

Nice bit of hard grooving post-punk business here from Logikparty. I'm quite partial to a bit of post-punk so the spidery shrill guitar tones and Poly Styrene-esque vocal delivery are really floating my boat. In the poppier moments things can “go a little bit Ting Tings”, but there's enough propulsive weirdness on display here for that not to really be an issue over the course of the record. Business Lady has immediately noted a similarity to Leeds post punk good people Beards in the punkier bits and Cleckhuddersfax in the quieter bits, which is fair. There's a bit of a Devo influence going on too, I'm pretty sure, mixed with Delta 5 or something, but then they'll throw in a queasy Zola Jesusy number to keep you guessing. 'Dumb Glutton' kicks into a heavy riff and then fades out immediately which is weird and I like weird. Oh wait, it just faded right back in again like in 'Simple Exploding Man' by Mondo Generator and then it stops abruptly like a record player having its plug pulled. Playful stuff. Then that's followed by a Dead Kennedys-esque blazing punk romp. They're all over the place stylistically but totally tight and cohesive as well. Hyperactive old-fashioned post-punk fun in the most part though. Slicing.
