The press release for these says they're on snot green cassettes in handmade sleeves. They're not, they're just in regular tape boxes with no sleeve art. Not that it should matter but I wouldn't want to mislead you. Anyway, as for the music, this tape's got one song on each side from the Sharm El Shakes, who are a “supergroup” of sorts featuring all sorts of snotty Londoners from bands like Human Hair and Lovvers. The result is a record that sounds very “London”, you know all those recent bands who've been cropping up with their annoying cockney voices and mid-paced garage rock stylings - Male Bonding, Fair Ohs, Shitty Limits, Let's Wrestle...whoever thought that Art Brut would turn out to be so influential on a whole generation of young scamps. Once I get over being racist about southerners this is actually pretty likeable stuff, if a little flimsy on the content side (there's only one short song per side so there's a lot of tape turning involved if you want to have a good listen), but I reckon you should buy one just to prevent me from reopening the north-south divide with my indefensible prejudices.
