Another Sic Alps record? Has it really been a month already? Ah well, time certainly flies when you're waiting for a new one from these guys. They seem to churn out their mini lo-fi gems as regularly as some people empty their bowels. Anyway, this 7” has got two songs in each side and it's the usual mix of muddy jangle and disgustingly trebly guitar leads and super-cool nonchalant vocals that you love so much from these guys, all housed in their most confusing artwork to date! 'Spending Time' is my favourite cut of these four, and in fact among the best things I've ever heard from these guys. '60s style rock'n'roll with organs and great little clumsy twiddly guitar lines and some insanely catchy hooks. A total corker, like the progeny of a drunken fling between Guided By Voices and Woods. Ominously shuffling closer 'Squiddley Diddley' is really effective too. If their head-scratching 'Vedley' 7” had you worried they were heading out from their lo-fi garage pop roots into the oddball wilderness, this delicious four-tracker should ease your concerns.
