- Come On, Be a No-one by The Cribs

“This new Vines record sounds rubbish,” says our Mike. If any other bugger here got hold of this brand new waxing from the bizarrely and ever-greenly popular Cribs, our young lads from Wakey, they'd probably fist-fuck it a new centrehole in anger. As I'm feeling slightly more reasonable today I'll just nibble the edges and throw its over-produced pseudo-Yank college rock anthemic bluster into the bin. At least they're kinda attempting to get back to their (once charming) roots slightly and the multi-tracked guitars sound nicely ragged round the edges but it's another one of those vacuous non-songs designed for the kids' radio or the worst kind of meat-market indie disco and means nothing, says nowt and sounds like any number of no-hoper bands from the grey area of the post Brit-slop late '90s. Creatively redundant. Talk about polishing a turd, Fridmann (alas you've done a bit of that in your time haven't you mate?).
