Bowerbirds are a band I've paid scant attention to in the past. This is no reflection on the quality of music produced by the group, more it's a case of there's only so many hours in the day. Now on their third album for Dead Oceans, Bowerbirds purport to have produced their most considered and well executed record to date. If you're familiar with them you'll know their brand of Alt-Country with hints of traditional Folkiness well enough. Here the songcraft and boy/girl duo harmonies really come into their own echoing the best of their work so far whilst expanding on the Beirut / Bon Ivor / Phosphorescent angle of dynamic and highly emotive folk-pop. Surprised these lot aren't more popular as I'd say they're the best of the aforementioned bunch.
