Bloody hell, what is this madness? This is totally not what I was expecting. Am I playing the right side? Erm...no. So on side B there's this repeatedly descending chime/chink sound, right, probably emanating from the tautest of strings ever. And then some of the most deranged discordant ragged porch guitar then some demented high pitched yodelling/howling. Then it's over in a jot. You'll all be more fussed about the 'A' side though, innit? He's some chap in his twenties from Chicago is WEB  and 'Evening's Kiss' is a sweet lo-fi acoustic number that totally shines through its simplicity, the main melody coming from his wistful sensitive sing-song voice rather than his rudimentary guitar playing. Very affecting intimate folk/blues that sounds as pure and timeless as you could wish for. Can actually see why XL were charmed enough to sign him, I like it and would like to hear more.
