On first listen, this is very lovely stuff - we'll see, over time, whether its pleasures are passing or permanent. For now, though, Wexler's sounds to me are not too unlike, say, Nick Drake taking the vocal spotlight on a John Martyn album circa 1973. But more than either of those artists, I am reminded of the solo work of Greg Weeks (of Espers), particularly his 2001 album, Awake Like Sleep. High praise, sure. It doesn't sound much like anything else I've been listening to lately and I love it.
