Yet more quality garage here from HoZac, this time in the form of a 7” from boy/girl duo The Band in Heaven. The front cover involves dogs dressed as ghosts/klansmen with Halloween lanterns in their mouths. It's pretty precious. Not only that but there's four songs on here, with various friends assisting them over the course of the seven. Opener 'Sleazy Dreams' is a garage-fuzz pop chant with call and response vocals, then 'If Only You Knew' is a downbeat ballad wrapped in Brian Jonestownesque '60s vibes. The B side continues on that BJM tip actually, with 'Summer Bummer' continuing the mystical hippie feel with a whopping four extra musicians for quite a bustling indie dance type number, before 'Sludgy Dreams' closes out with some acid fried stoner mysticism that's pretty irresistible. The two songs on the B side seem to end quite abruptly with swift fades, which is a bit annoying and presumably has been done in order to fit all the songs onto a 45rpm 7”, but that minor quibble aside this disc has got some varied and excellent summery garage pop on it. Totally cool sounds.
