Winebox are a cassette label specialising in limited runs packaged in recycled wooden boxes. I don't know why they do this. With runs as limited as 57 (in this case) it's hard to say how much the label are offsetting their carbon footprint considering the process involved in manufacturing tapes in the first place but hey, it's looks pretty frickin' cool so who am I to argue? 'Untitled (High Peak Vibrations Vol. II)' is also an odd one in the sense that it's untitled yet it also has a title. This is the second volume of J. Collin's bucolic trilogy (the first of which is soon to be released on Giant Hell) and features tracks exclusively performed on acoustic guitars, be they nylon, steel or whatever strings. This one sits in the dusty arid landscape territory of emotional resonance. I've been listening for ten minutes now and basically it's a dude freestyling on a guitar with a bottle slider invoking American landscapes, back porches and hard times. It's a pleasurable listen. Like something you might expect Cam Deas to knock out in an afternoon. Now I'm settled in I could quite happily listen to this for hours.
