When I first picked this CD up it had a “review” sticker on the front sleeve. The sticker was obscuring the title slightly, so I thought this LP was called “Chives Of The Natural World” and I thought this was a celebration of all things natural and errmmmm...chive based. 8/10 Dave Staff review, 25 January 2012

When I first picked this CD up it had a “review” sticker on the front sleeve. The sticker was obscuring the title slightly, so I thought this LP was called “Chives Of The Natural World” and I thought this was a celebration of all things natural and errmmmm...chive based. Luckily it isn't a collection of songs with titles like “I've Had (The Chive Of My Life)” or “Chive Talkin'”. It's a rather haunting collection of songs that have a weighty conservational slant. Her voice sounds quite amazing as usual and has a ghostly resonance that hangs in your mind long after listening...this LP also sounds rather brilliant. It has a really slick production and it sits very well with Odessa's gentle, but powerful voice. Her intimate songs have found themselves on many an independent film soundtrack and she has been compared to Cat Power (without the booze) and Jeff Buckley. All crappy jokes aside, this LP is one of the most emotive things this reviewer has heard...today. My favourite tracks are the quieter, morose ones like the brilliant “Deer Perspectives” and the fantastic “Lesser Creatures”, which actually is quite epic by all accounts. A sterling LP and damn fine listen. Comes with a free ticket to the Annual Big Game Hunting Festival in Nova Scotia...
