These guys are from Brussels and this is their debut mini-album, mostly released digitally but also on a run of 100 CDrs in nice glossy packaging which they're selling at shows. They've been kind enough to throw a few of them our way, though, and I'm pretty charmed by this one. The way it starts out I thought it was going to be all chiming instrumental post-rock in the vein of Unwed Sailor or Emery Reel, with a bit of Hood-esque technological weirdness, but then on the second track the vocals come in and it goes a bit more widescreen with lush, gently-paced indie pop that brings to mind Pinback or early dEUS, but with the subtle electronic touches of Epic 45 or The Notwist...so basically it sounds like the bands I liked ten years ago that I'm still not embarrassed about. It's got a late night epic feel about it without falling into any of the Snow Patrol pitfalls that epic indie pop brings with it, and I'm very curious to hear what these guys come up with next.
