Django Django hail from Edinburgh but without doing a disservice to the city sound like they are from somewhere more exotic. Their debut album blends electronics, guitar twangs and Beach Boys-esque vocals to produce a sound that is meticulously crafted. The Beta Band meets Bo Diddley meets Animal Collective. What's not to love?

At first, I was not too excited by this album. By the third listen, I was hooked. It is dynamite! Best of all, it's an album you can listen to all the way through and not hit a stinker. It reminds me of '60's & early '70's albums that had songs skilfully put together in order to create a great effect 'as a whole.' Too often, alternative bands blend together with similar vocalists, instruments, structure, sounds, rhythms, etc. Django Django have succeeded in carving a new niche market for this genre.
