8/10 Clinton Staff review, 13 January 2012

Another addition to the EU post-rock/ambient mountain and influenced by the usual suspects of Sigur Ros, Eluvium, Hammock, Stars of the Lid and The Bee Gees. It is as you may expect achingly beautiful. The second track 'Another Way Out' is the first to snag my ear and uses synthetic synth to create a lolling circular melody that immediately soothes ones soul drifting beautifully away to nothingness. This is a feature of this record - as with Stars of the Lid, the tracks each take an age to appear with huge fade ins of haunting ambience as introductions before the melodies take hold if they even do as some tracks just consist of severely strung out ambience. The whole thing seems to have been produced to inspire a feeling of calmness and tranquility in the listener and tracks like 'Cast Aside (the briefest of pauses)' succeed with gentle undulating atmospherics leading me to nod off to a calm, peaceful sleep (which would be a first). Throughout this review I've been wondering what is good weather for an airstrike. At first I thought mist and fog as then the planes may be down anyway. But it depends which way you look at it - for maximum disruption you'd want a clear sunny day. Answers on a telegram please.
