8/10 Mike Staff review, 08 February 2012
As far as I can tell this unlikely collaboration was recorded way back in 2000, back when we didn't even know what an iPhone was. Very lovely it is, too, with Eastern psych rockers Ghost keeping everything tasteful and low-key and adding a real mystical feel to the pastoral folky goings-on, sometimes bringing chimes and background groans and synth melodies that sound like something out of a Final Fantasy game. One thing I will say is that I personally would've liked to get more of a glimpse of the harder psych-rock side of Ghost on here, but even then I do have to concede that it'd probably be completely inappropriate in a collection like this one anyway, and I get the impression that the Damon & Naomi side of the collaboration is the one doing the bulk of the writing, and Ghost are largely their backing band here. There's plenty of pretty songs on here, and beautifully recorded too. An airy and intimate collection of wistful, almost spiritual neofolk to gaze out of rain-flecked windows and feel sorry for yourself to.
