8/10 Mike Staff review, 11 January 2012

Pretty cool looking thing, this. Massive props to the cover artists Lucy Jones and Alex Humphreys for putting in the hours...the press release just describes it as “hand-assembled, risographed” but as far as I can tell the back cover is a one-colour screenprint, hand-numbered in the corner, and the front cover has a big colourful panel glued on that's been riso printed and then screenprinted over in seven different colours! I counted! No wonder they've only made 100. And great news, there's a plastic disc inside it with some garage rock music on it from a pair of Mancunians who've been in some good bands like Former Bullies. The music here is fuzzy and tuneful and a little bit shambling. It's bringing to mind Ty Segall's earlier records with its simple melodies and crapulent tones, so if that kind of lo-fi garagey pop with a bit of a '60s feel appeals, you know what to do. Sounds like they've been listening to the Nuggets comps and Billy Childish. Nothing new going on here exactly, but it's well put together and constantly melodic and charming and sometimes downright uplifting. It's minimal but never tentative, and they stomp and strum through tune after tune with some degree of abandon. I approve.
