Having covered almost every musical genre known to man over the course of these reviews here is another which is a challenge for someone who basically just likes The Field Mice. Anyway what we have here is a delightfully packaged compilation of Albanian music from the 1920's and 30's (that's before even Phil was born) accompanied by a lovely booklet and typically fantastic cover art from Robert Crumb. The music contained herein has been unissued since the original 78's and has been exquisitely mastered and put together for your listening pleasure. Its stunning how out there and dynamic a lot of this music is. What on earth were these people on? It contains squealing sax/clarinet, busy violin and tumbling rhythms all topped of with some spirited, enthusiastic vocals. It has to be heard to be believed. A stunning package over all and well worth an investment.
