Rough Trade are back with a compilation highlighting the 'best' in electronic music from the year we have come to know as 2011. There's no point in reviewing these type of compilations save to say the opening few tracks sound like they've come from a compilation entitled Electronic '77 such are the rudimentary Human League/The Normal type synths on offer. Still, a purchase will allow you to find out about a host of artists you haven't heard of and some you probably have. Tracks from Nicolas Jaar, Flying Lotus (with Thom Yorke), Shackleton, Alva Noto, Ford & Lopatin, Panasonic, Prurient, Ben Frost and many, many more as they say. I'm liking this Nicolas Jaar track that is on at the moment so even with a brief cursory listen I've found something new. Recommended.
