Liz Fraser’s ethereal vocals, often lyrical gobbledegook, coupled with the sparse backing from Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde (who replaced Will Heggie in 1983) made The Cocteau Twins one of the ‘80s most unique and special artists. The label had a knack back then for signing such acts. Along with Pixies, The Cocteau Twins top the list of their greatest finds. Stars And Topsoil - A Collection (1982-1990) is the ideal place to start if you want to get an overview of the band's work. It’s Likely that you will then move quickly to buy Heaven Or Las Vegas.

8/10 Jack Customer review, 6th September 2016
Cocteau Twins was a uniquely ahead of its time phenomenon in alternative music, becoming a highly influential cult band to the Paisley Underground, C-86 and Shoegaze movements that would dominate Great Britain's scene. On Stars and Topsoil, most of the key cuts from their 4AD studio albums and EPs are present, and the overall output of songs like "Aikea-Guinea", "Sugar Hiccup" and their minor hit "Heaven Or Las Vegas" provide the ultimate snapshot of the Twins unique brand of ethereal guitar pop.
