In case you hadn't figured it out on your own, Diagrams is Sam Genders from Tunng's new outfit. They did a lovely mini-album a few months ago that promised great things, and this here single is the first to be taken from their forthcoming debut album proper. The A side is an upbeat number that sees Gender heading into Super Furries-esque psych pop territory, a memorable and lushly arranged indie gem with a lighthearted bounce to it and much less of the folky side exhibited on the mini-album. On the flip we've got the “Olugbenga Edit” of a song called Hill. I'm not sure if that's an out-and-out remix or what but there's lots of clicky electronic percussion, cut up and pitched up vocals and simple melodies. It's quite uplifting, almost like Animal Collective decided to go in a '90s house direction. Quite surprised by both of these tracks to be honest, but not in a bad way.
