6/10 Mike Staff review, 15 December 2011

I'm having terrible difficulty figuring out what speed this record is supposed to go on, so I'm reviewing it at 33. On side A we've got a flat bass groove with a few little whistles and creaks and squeaks chattering away in the background. It's all pretty relaxing, if a little noncommittal. Towards the end of the track some crunchy electronics and smooth sax are added to inoffensive effect. However on the flip we've got Mats Gustafsson going nuts on his saxophone while the rest of them lollop away behind him in a similar flat groove to the first side. In fact it sounds almost as if they've just taken that first recording and added a huge free jazz saxophone solo over the top. The sax playing is very abrasive and aimed for those who like their chuntering skronk to be as confrontational as possible. That group does not include Phil, who is clearly not having much fun listening to this one. In fact he's making me stop now. Phil hates saxophones like you hate your children.
